Kaibab National Forest Open

The Kaibab National Forest, which borders the national park on the north and south, is open without fire restrictions as of July 16, 2021. Visitors should always be careful with fire- smoke only inside a vehicle or in a cleared area, and always completely extinguish all smoking materials and campfires before leaving the site.

Kaibab National Forest Closed due to Extreme Fire Danger

As of 8:00 AM June 23, the Kaibab National Forest, which bounds Grand Canyon National Park on the north and south sides, is closed to all public entry due to extreme fire danger. Grand Canyon National Park is still open, but all campfires, smoking, charcoal, and open flames are prohibited, except for camp stoves in designated campgrounds.
